Sometimes a tooth gets so inflamed due to decay, disease or trauma that it needs to be pulled or extracted. Lanphier Family Dental offers gentle tooth extractions, including emergency extractions. First, we will do a through dental exam to ensure that the tooth cannot be saved. We will also ask you about your medical history.

We can offer nitrous oxide gas to help you feel calm and relaxed. Sometimes called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is not intended to put you to sleep – you will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions we may have. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off after the procedure is completed.

The initial healing period after a tooth extraction usually takes one to two weeks. New bone and gum tissue will grow into the gap left by the extraction. Over time, having a tooth (or teeth) missing can cause the remaining teeth to shift, affecting your bite and making it difficult to chew. We can help you choose the best option for filling in the gap,  including a dental implant, fixed bridge, or partial denture.
